Neural networks are well known for their ability to classify information and for pattern recognition. Other methods exist for calculating noise floor and interference power to understand and recognize the presence of other users and radios. Another uses channel sounding to capture a snapshot of the channel's propagation information.

Sending packets of training data through a channel and observing the bit errors and burst error rates is one method. Sensing and modeling the channel can be done in a number of ways.
